Visions Unveiled - 2024 University Exhibition

On the 2nd February 2024, I got the opportunity to participate in a class exhibition as part of my degree at De Montfort University. The exhibition was held in the Vijay Patel Building and I was able to get some hands on experience putting together an exhibition space and presenting my work in a formal exhibition. This is a treasured memory of mine and I am proud of the work I got the chance to display.

Artist Statement
‘Speak for Me’

My project ‘Speak for me’ references how I use my photography to share my thoughts and feelings, effectively asking my art to reach out to others for me. The photo series shows how I tie my sense of identity to my photography, leaving traces of myself behind in my pictures in an attempt to connect with others. The photos are black and white film and digital photography, I have used projection to create silhouette shadows onto my artwork, and I have taken pictures of places I connect with deeply with a blur of me in the photograph.  My goal with this exhibition is to reach others who have had a similar experience throughout their lives and to connect with others within the community.
